Notice of Election and Call for Nominations 

The BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) will be holding a board election in January 2025 for two registrant or certified dental assistant board member positions.

BCCOHP benefits from the strategic oversight of a supportive board that has a clear understanding of its role, is transparent and accountable, and is committed to ensuring BCCOHP is well-positioned to serve the public by regulating 16,000 oral health professionals and deliver on the promise of modernized professional regulation of the oral health team. Of the 12 members on the Board, half are elected, and half are appointed (public) members. Learn more about our Board >> 

There are two positions to be filled by election:  

• Certified dental assistant board member (3-year term) 
• Board member who may be a registrant or a certified dental assistant (3-year term) 

The start date for these positions is April 1, 2025.  Please note that the 3-year term lengths are subject to change should the government enact the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) prior to the term for these Board member positions ending on March 31, 2028.  For more information, please visit the Superintendent’s website or the Ministry of Health Professional Regulation. 

Nominations for the two board member positions will open on December 2 and will be accepted until January 1, 2025, at 4:30 pm PT. 

Voting 

All six types of oral health professionals regulated by BCCOHP can vote for both elected board member positions. Voting will take place online in the new year, via a secure, third-party service. Electronic ballots will be emailed to eligible voters, along with instructions on how to vote.
