Oral Health Professionals Research Study

Background

BCCOHP launched its first engagement study of oral health professionals in early 2023, with a second study following in 2024. These studies ask oral health professionals about their perceptions of BCCOHP, as well as their experiences and preferences.

The 2023 study had two phases:

Phase one: An online panel of oral health professionals explored topic areas which informed a survey conducted in phase two.

Phase two: All oral health professionals were invited to provide input through an online survey. Participants were asked to respond to questions and statements about:

  • quality assurance
  • registration/certification and renewal
  • health equity and cultural safety
  • team-based care
  • communication preferences
  • perceptions of BCCOHP

The 2024 survey built on the 2023 version, with some adaptations based on context and emerging priorities.

Results will help frame and inform a number of BCCOHP’s planned initiatives and regulatory functions in a structured and sustainable way.
