BCCOHP’s committees are established by and accountable to the board. Effective April 1, 2026, BCCOHP will have have five committees organized into two types: regulatory and Board committees.
Committee membership includes public members and oral health professionals. Our committees are comprised of individuals who reflect the importance of diversity, gender equality, professional experience, knowledge and skill.
Role
The Accreditation Committee is accountable to the Board in overseeing BCCOHP’s accreditation program in accordance with Part 14 of the BCCOHP bylaws. The Accreditation Committee is responsible for assessing the compliance of licensees, and the dental facilities in which they operate, with the accreditation standards, to make decisions to issue and renew certificates of accreditation.
Role
The Investigation Committee is accountable to the Board in overseeing BCCOHP’s investigations program in accordance with Part 3 and 5 of the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) and Part 12 of the BCCOHP bylaws.
Role
The Licence Committee is accountable to the Board in overseeing BCCOHP’s licence and certification programs in accordance with Part 3, Divisions 2 and 3 of the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) and Parts 6 and 7 of the BCCOHP bylaws. The Licence Committee makes decisions whether to approve or deny non-routine applications for the issuing, renewing or reinstatement of a licence or certification.
Role
The Permit Committee is accountable to the Board in overseeing BCCOHP’s health profession corporation permit program in accordance with Part 3, Divisions 2 and 4 of the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) and Part 9 of the BCCOHP bylaws. The Permit Committee makes decisions whether to approve or deny non-routine applications for the issuing, varying, renewing or reinstating of health profession corporation permits.
Role
The Finance and Audit Committee assists the Board in fulfilling its obligations and oversight responsibilities relating to financial planning and reporting, the audit process, and internal control systems.

Committee membership can require a significant time commitment. The time commitment is dependent on the committee and its current workload.
Committee members are compensated in keeping with our Board, Committee and Working Group Remuneration and Expense Policy. Please note that this policy is currently being updated.

Candidates who are being considered for a committee membership appointment will be asked to complete a Declaration of Interests form before their appointment is confirmed.
The Board seeks to fill the available positions on each committee based on the applicant’s skills, knowledge, experience and area of interest. The Board will appoint committee members in March.
New committee terms will begin on April 1, 2026.
