Licensed Dental Assistant: Licence and Renewal

Clarifying BCCCOHP’s professional liability insurance requirements for licensed dental assistants We are aware of information currently circulating suggests that under the new Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) and BCCOHP bylaws, Licensed Dental Assistants are required to hold their own professional liability insurance. This is not a BCCOHP requirement. Neither the HPOA nor the BCCOHP bylaws introduce a requirement for Licensed Dental Assistants to carry individual professional liability insurance. Licensed dental assistants (LDAs) must be licensed with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals in order to practise in BC.
