Dental Technician Registration

To fabricate dental appliances as a dental technician a person must be registered with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals. Only registrants of the College are legally entitled to practice dental technology in BC.

The College has four (4) registration classes:

  1. Dental Technician
  2. Dental Technician Student
  3. Temporary Dental Technician
  4. Non-practising Dental Technician*

* Please note: a Non-practising Dental Technician is not allowed to provide any of the services of a dental technician in British Columbia, including supervising other registrants or non-registrants. A registrant must be previously registered as a Dental Technician to transfer to a non-practising class.

To perform the services offered in dental technology legally, an individual must be registered with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals. For rules on delegation please see the bylaws. Registration is granted if the applicant satisfies the conditions and/or requirements of the respective registration class which has been applied for.  All classes of registration must be renewed annually.

Renewal notices are sent to all registrants via email in late January. Registrants are required to provide a valid email address. The renewal period starts on February 1 through to the last day of March 31
