To fabricate dental appliances as a dental technician a person must be registered with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals. Only registrants of the College are legally entitled to practice dental technology in BC.
The College has four (4) registration classes:
* Please note: a Non-practising Dental Technician is not allowed to provide any of the services of a dental technician in British Columbia, including supervising other registrants or non-registrants. A registrant must be previously registered as a Dental Technician to transfer to a non-practising class.
To perform the services offered in dental technology legally, an individual must be registered with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals. For rules on delegation please see the bylaws. Registration is granted if the applicant satisfies the conditions and/or requirements of the respective registration class which has been applied for. All classes of registration must be renewed annually.
Renewal notices are sent to all registrants via email in late January. Registrants are required to provide a valid email address. The renewal period starts on February 1 through to the last day of March 31

Renewals can be done through the Registrant Login portal.
Reinstatement after your registration has lapsed requires completion of a reinstatement application process and a reinstatement fee. You must meet the Quality Assurance requirements for continuing education and continuous practice.

Effective April 1, 2009 and consistent with the terms of the Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) and the BC/AB Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA), the British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals will continue to register Denturists who are currently registered in another jurisdiction in Canada, in accordance with the provisions of these Agreements.
