Introducing BCCOHP’s Modernized Quality Assurance Program

Dear oral health professionals,

With the new year underway, we are pleased to share a more detailed introduction to BCCOHP’s modernized Quality Assurance Program (QAP), which is replacing the pre-existing programs for all six oral health professions in BC in April 2026.

The modernized program is designed to support ongoing competence of oral health professionals through:

  • reflective activities aligned to your practice context
  • learning that reinforces understanding and application of BCCOHP’s Professional and Practice Standards
  • supportive follow-up provided when additional guidance is identified as beneficial

The modernized QAP consists of three components. Note that Component A and Component B are completed annually, with only a select group moving to Component C. Oral health professionals will move through the components as follows:

These components work together to create a clear, supportive, and proportionate approach to ongoing competence.

What you need to know

Pre-existing programs were retired as of December 31, 2025.

For those whose QA cycle ended December 31, 2025, any outstanding requirements from the pre-existing programs must be completed and submitted by March 31, 2026, in order to renew with BCCOHP by the annual deadline. Refer here for more information about winding down the pre-existing programs.

While no other action is required at this time, oral health professionals may wish to revisit BCCOHP’s Professional and Practice Standards as a practical way to stay current and aligned with the expectations that support the modernized QAP.

Next steps

We will continue to share updates over the coming months as we move closer to the launch of the program. More details about the rollout timeline are contained at the end of the design overview here >>

Need technical support?
Some oral health professionals experienced technical issues around the December 31 wind down of the pre-existing programs. We apologize for the confusion caused by these issues, including unexpected notices or invoices appearing in profiles. These issues have now been resolved, and systems should be functioning as intended.
