Inquiry Committee Order
June 25, 2025
Dr. Kyle Nawrot is a dentist registered with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP).
On June 25, 2025, a panel of the Inquiry Committee (the Panel) of BCCOHP issued an order under section 35(1) of the Health Professions Act (HPA) related to two complaints with multiple allegations related to billing, adherence to a previous suspension, recordkeeping, and improper delegation of tasks to non-certified dental assistants.
Under section 35(1) of the HPA, the Inquiry Committee may impose limits or conditions on an oral health professional’s practice or suspend their registration if it believes this is necessary to protect the public while an investigation is ongoing or before a hearing takes place.
The Panel found there was a risk of harm associated with the allegation that Dr. Nawrot has been using non-certified dental assistants for tasks reserved for certified dental assistants (CDAs). As a result of this finding, the Panel imposed the following interim conditions to reduce the risk of harm while the complaints are being resolved:
- Dr. Nawrot must provide BCCOHP and all staff at his clinic with a list of his current dental assistants and their specific certification (such as a dental radiography designation) with BCCOHP.
- Dr. Nawrot must review and circulate relevant standards and CDAs’ aspects of practice (as provided to him by BCCOHP) to all dentists and staff at his clinic within one day of receiving them.
- BCCOHP may conduct random audits at his clinic to ensure compliance with these conditions.
