The information provided below is for dental hygienists who wish to renew or reinstate registration with BCCOHP. If you have not registered before, please see the First-Time Applicants page.
Dental hygienists must renew their registration annually. BCCOHP registration year runs from April 1 each year until March 31 the following year.
The renewal period will open each February for the following year. Annual renewal will open soon.
Dental hygienists will be able to renew registration with BCCOHP online beginning in mid-February each year and will be notified by email when the online renewal system opens.

Dental hygienists must hold current registration with BCCOHP in order to practise.
Dental hygienists must renew their registration annually. BCCOHP’s registration year runs from April 1 each year until March 31 the following year.

Please note: Dental hygienists with unrenewed registrations are not permitted to perform the services of a dental hygienist.

If you have forgotten your password, you have the option to reset it. On the login page, click “Forgot password?” You should receive an email with a temporary password. If you do not receive the email, please check your junk or spam folder; if you do not find the email there, please use the contact us page or call 672-202-0458 (toll-free: 1-866-329-7093) to get in touch.
Please ensure you update your email address in your profile. The email address that is associated with your profile is where you will be resetting your password. Try to avoid using multiple email accounts or a different email account when emailing in questions to avoid missed communications.

You can renew by logging into your BCCOHP profile.
You can complete renewal online on your personal computer, laptop, tablet or phone.
The annual renewal deadline is March 31.
Accepted payment methods include Visa and Mastercard credit cards.
You can download and print your registration card and receipt through the registrant portal. You can access previous receipts through the payment tab on your profile.
You will not be able to renew your registration if your criminal record check is not current. You will need to submit a new criminal record check to the Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General first before you can renew your registration with BCCOHP.
You would have been contacted by BCCOHP via email if your criminal record check is expired or set to expire.
You will be able to complete renewal once you provide proof of criminal record check authorization submitted to the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. Proof can be in the form of payment receipt made to the Ministry. Please email this to us at registration@oralhealthbc.ca.
Please visit the link below and use the BCCOHP access code to have your criminal record check results sent to BCCOHP directly.
Registrants must attest that they have the required professional liability insurance to renew their registration. This can be done on the online renewal application.

If you are currently registered in a practising class and would like to renew as non-practising, you can change your registration class to non-practising on the online renewal application.
If you are retiring or not renewing, please email registration@oralhealthbc.ca.
The non-practising registration category is for dental hygienists who are eligible to hold registration as a dental hygienist but do not plan to practise for a period of time. Non-practising dental hygienists are not permitted to practise.
Note: After an extended absence, educational credentials such as Local Anaesthesia certification may not be recognized. If you wish to regain your practising status, please contact our office to confirm your eligibility.
Non-practising registrants cannot renew in a practising class online at renewal. Please contact our office to confirm your eligibility to reinstate to practising.
Non-practising registrants must meet the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) requirements to reinstate to a practising status.
Proof of professional liability insurance must also be submitted to BCCOHP to reinstate to practising registration.
If you were practising in another jurisdiction as a healthcare provider, BCCOHP will require a Certificate of Standing from that jurisdiction prior to completing reinstatement.

If your registration expired and you wish to regain practising status, you must:
Reinstating within 60 days
To reinstate your registration within 60 days of expiration, you must complete a reinstatement form online and pay the registration fee and reinstatement fee before June 1.
Reinstating after 60 days
To reinstate your registration after 60 days of expiration, you must complete and submit a reinstatement form online. You must also undergo a new criminal record check and submit payment for the registration fee and reinstatement fee.

If you are planning to resign and will not practice in April, you may resign from the register on or before April 1. Please send an email to registration@oralhealthbc.ca stating that you wish to resign before April 1. Your status will be updated to “resigned from register.”
Registration expiry date is on March 31, and a new fiscal year begins on April 1. This means that regardless of when you registered, you must renew by March 31 to continue holding registration.

If you do not meet your CC requirements and/or complete your OLP and QAP Assessment Tool, you must renew as “non-practising”. You will be prevented from reinstating to a practising registration category until all outstanding QAP requirements have been met. Ensure you have marked both required learning plans and activities in your OLP as “complete”. For instructions on how to do this, please review the “Adding an Activity” and “Learning Plans” tutorial videos. Should you need further assistance, please contact our office.
If your Online Learning Plan (OLP) is under review and you have not implemented the necessary changes identified during the audit to meet QA requirements, you must renew as “non-practising” while you complete your QA requirements. Please work with your QAP coordinator to resolve this as soon as possible.
To avoid payment for renewal of inactive corporations, you need to inform the corporation team beforerenewal by contacting corporations@oralhealthbc.ca.
Dental Hygienist Practitioner Registration classes can be the owner of a corporation, as stipulated under BCCOHP Bylaws 14.04 (1).
If you are a non-practising or former dental hygienist who was previously registered with BCCOHP, you must reinstate your registration in order to return to practice.

Due to a system error, CDHA and BCDHA fees were inadvertently included in tax receipts for dental hygienists. If you downloaded tax receipts between September 1, 2022, and April 21, 2023, please download a correct version from the BCCOHP registrant portal.
