As part of work to unify regulatory functions following the amalgamation of four oral health colleges last year, the BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) is establishing a Quality Assurance (QA) Working Group to develop a modernized QA program applicable to all oral health professionals (OHPs), from the design stage through to post-implementation.
BCCOHP’s Quality Assurance (QA) Program helps ensure the public is well-served by competent oral health professionals. Currently, all oral health professionals are required to take continuing education as part of their quality assurance programs. At present, there are additional, profession-specific requirements that are not consistent across the different oral health professions.
Seeking qualified candidates
BCCOHP is recruiting oral health professionals from different professions and members of the public to join the new Quality Assurance Working Group for a three-year term.
Ideal candidates have:
- completed a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctoral degree (PhD)
- working knowledge of assessments that are conducted for quality assurance purposes
- professional practice experience, including clinical care and other practice role(s) or settings. For example, experience as a researcher, educator, or with community/public health or administration. This criterion is specific to oral health professional applicants.
To learn more about the competencies that BCCOHP is seeking in QA Working Group members, and other information about this opportunity, please read the Terms of Reference.
Application requirements
Interested applicants should also read the Eligibility Policy and Guide for Committee and Working Group members before applying. Working Group members will receive compensation, as outlined in the Board, Committee and Working Group Remuneration and Expense Policy.
The deadline has been extended for public applicants. A completed application form, declaration of interests, and resumé must be submitted to committees@oralhealthbc.ca no later than 12 p.m. Pacific Time on October 25, 2023.
The Nomination and Appointment Committee will present a proposed list of Working Group candidate recommendations to the Board for consideration and approval.
Note: As we anticipate receiving a significant volume of applications for the Quality Assurance Working Group, we cannot respond to applicants not chosen for the working group. Incomplete application packages will not be considered due to the staff resources required for follow-up. If you are not selected for the Quality Assurance Working Group, we anticipate there will be broader consultation with oral health professionals on the proposed BCCOHP quality assurance program in the future.
