Research and Consultations

Connect with us to learn, share and shape oral health care oversight

Welcome! Opportunities for members of the public and oral health professionals to get involved with BCCOHP are posted below. Here, you will be able to learn about our plans and progress on key initiatives, and respond to invitations for feedback.

At BCCOHP, we aspire to meaningful public and professional consultation relative to the impacts of changes being considered. Our consultation process is designed to be inclusive, relational, transparent and connected to outcomes.

We use a structured decision-making pathway to determine when and how to consult, engage in targeted efforts, or provide notice in lieu of consultation.

Title: Decision Pathway for Regulatory Consultation
Organization: British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) Start: The decision-making process begins with the question:
"Legal requirement to consult?" If Yes: Action: Consult. The pathway ends here.
If No: Proceed to the next decision: "Type of change: material vs. immaterial."
If Material: Action: Consult. The pathway ends here.
If Immaterial: Proceed to the next decision: "High profile or high interest?"
If Yes: Action: Consider targeted efforts. The pathway ends here.
If No: Action: Provide notice in lieu of consultation. The pathway ends here.
End of Flowchart.

By following this approach, we ensure consistency and transparency in our approach to consultation.
